A bit about SATS

The South African Theological Seminary (SATS) is a fully accredited and registered, distance education institution, which focuses on equipping you for service, right where you are in your local church. We provide theological distance learning which is Biblically-based, Christ-centred, and Spirit-led. Study options range from Certificate in Christian Life to Bachelor in Theology and a range of Postgraduate degrees.
Although we are based in South Africa our academic staff and student body are truly international. Our qualifications are recognised internationally.
Study Options
If you choose to do your studies using printed materials your course study material will be sent via courier to your home address.
We have a student community site called MySats; this is where our students connect with their tutors and other students. It is also the site where all assignments are submitted; whether you take your courses in printed or download format. If you do not have access to the Internet you may post your assignments and exams to the Seminary.
You may choose to do your studies via downloads in which case you are required to download all your study materials from the MySats site. You would then work directly from your computer screen or print the materials yourself. You will submit your completed work to MySats, and receive feedback via MySats. You will also write your exams on MySats.
If you choose to do your studies via e-learning, you will collaborate with a small group of about 8-20 students in an online learning community, using a range of exciting e-learning tools. Your fellow students could be in the same town or they could be in other parts of the world. Although you are part of a group, you do not all have to be online at the same time.
Click here to visit the curriculum design page and read more about the various study programme options.
Student Support
We realise that it is sometimes hard to study in isolation and so we have developed a comprehensive student support network. Firstly, we will be in regular contact with you and we have tutors on standby to answer your questions, either by phone, online, fax or email. Secondly, we can provide you with names and contact details of other students doing the same subject. Thirdly, our online learning site MySats helps you to discuss issues with other students and with the SATS staff.
Post Graduate School
The South African Theological Seminary was the first private tertiary institution in South Africa to receive accreditation for the MTh by the Council on Higher Education, which has a stated policy of national and international comparability.
The Postgraduate School of the South African Theological Seminary offers with pride our outstanding Bachelor of Theology Honours as well as the Master of Theology and Doctor of Philosophy programmes, designed to raise up leaders, scholars and ground breakers in various fields of Christian ministry.
