Message from the Principal, Dr Reuben van Rensburg

In Acts 18:24 we read that Apollos had “a thorough knowledge of the Scriptures”. We have become increasingly aware that in many institutions there has been a steady decline in the value placed on God's Word, to the point where in some academic circles if one claims to believe it, one is immediately branded as a “fundamentalist”. One professor told his students, “Don't quote the Bible, quote real authorities!”

This trend is having a seriously damaging effect on the church, in that many students training for the pastorate are persuaded by their “learned” teachers to accept a liberalised gospel which demotes large parts of the Scriptures to the realm of myth or legend.

At the South African Theological Seminary we are absolutely committed to the inerrancy and infallibility of God's Word. It should govern all we believe and all we do in life and for this reason we have made the course called Biblical Worldview compulsory in our Bachelors programme. As a result we have become a home for those who seek a strong Biblical basis for their studies.

If you are looking for theological training which is relevant, uses the latest technological approaches, but which is uncompromising in its dependence on the Bible, then the South African Theological Seminary is the place for you. We look forward to serving you and providing you with the kind of equipping which befits a world seminary.
