MySats is a website that will integrate all my academic information. By logging into MySats, I will be able to access all my course materials, interact with the teacher and other students, submit my assignments and keep track of their status, and receive feedback on my assignments. MySats will also provide me with direct access to library resources and other vital documents (e.g., the student handbook, the guide for writing assignments).
What are the advantages for me?
MySats offers me a number of significant advantages, such as:
• One-stop studying. I will have direct access to everything I need for my courses, whether I choose to study via e-learning, print or downloads.
• Contact with other students. I will be able to communicate with other students taking the course by using the Forum function on each course page. Since the feeling of isolation is one of the great challenges of distance learning, sharing my journey with a number of other students is a great help.
• Access to the assessor. I will be able to submit my assignments directly to the course facilitator, without any administrative delays on the seminary side. I will also be able to see that the assignment has been received, and I will receive it back as soon as it has been graded—again without administrative delays. If there is a delay in grading my assignment, I can query it directly with the assessor responsible for grading it.
• Continuous, rapid feedback. I will be able to submit my assignments one by one, and receive feedback on each assignment in time to help me with the next assignment. Ongoing formative feedback throughout the course will enrich my learning experience, since I can learn from one assignment in time to improve the next one.
• Paced learning. By assigning due dates for all my assignments and completion dates for my courses, MySats will pace my studies in such a way that I will be able to complete my qualification in good time by doing one subject in each three-month block. The assignment dates are spread out to make my time-management easy—I just have to work steadily to complete my course.
I will simply choose my next subject/s from the list available at
http://www.satsonline.org/satsecampus/mod/resource/view.php?id=3889 and enrol online at MySats before the scheduled starting date/s. If I do not have access to the internet, I will contact the Registrar (jane@sats.edu.za or +27 11 234-4440) and she will arrange everything for me.
*NB. If I enrol before 20 January, I should email Jane (jane@sats.edu.za) or phone her (011 234-4440). From 20 January 2010 I will be able to log on enrol directly.
SATS by Courier!
From 1 January 2009, if I order my study materials in print, they will be delivered to me by overnight, door-to-door courier (Dawn Wing). This will ensure that I get my materials quickly and efficiently. The price is included in my subject fee.
*This service is available only to students in South Africa. Foreign students will receive their materials on MySats (unless of course they are willing to pay for the overseas courier service).
We don't close!
In order to provide you with all the help you need throughout this holiday period, SATS, unlike other institutions, will remain open. Naturally on public holidays and weekends we will not be here, but on all other days we will be on duty, even in the week between Christmas and New Year! This means that if you have questions, or you need help with assignments, someone will be available to assist. Dial the HELPDESK on 011 022-4440.
Save 10%
Our fees will be increasing by 10% on 1 January 2010 and so if you want to save some money, we suggest you purchase your next two subjects before 31 December 2009. Simply contact Jane (jane@sats.edu.za) for assistance.
