Child and youth development and professional parenting
This programme addresses the training needs of the alternative parent, i.e. the foster parent, the place of safety parent or the adoptive parent. The training covers issues such as, why parents want to be involved (introspection), The Child Care Act, childhood development, age-appropriate discipline as well as specific ways to deal with certain behaviours, as well as a section on the HIV infected child. This programme provides potential foster parents with insight and empowers them before they take the responsibility of fostering. The course is targeted to address the training and support needs of volunteers, foster / adoptive parents and anyone working with abused and abandoned children. The content centres on self-exploration, preparation with regard to the legal procedure and screening requirements, as well as knowledge-building with regard to childhood and skills-building in parenting. The practical parenting skills taught through this course will also assist with aspects such as step parenting and age-appropriate discipline of children. |

Cape Town 2010: The Third Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization
Few if any events have had more impact on World Evangelisation and the Church´s understanding of Mission, in the last few decades, than the Lausanne Congress on World Evangelisation convened in Switzerland in 1974. After a compelling second Congress in Manila a third gathering of several thousand participants from churches, theological training institutions and mission organisations from around the globe will meet in Cape Town in October 2010 under the name Cape Town 2010: The Third Lausanne Congress on World Evangelisation.
The Third Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization (Lausanne III) will be held in Cape Town, South Africa, 16-25 October 2010. The Congress, held in collaboration with the World Evangelical Alliance, will bring together 4,000 leaders from more than 200 countries to confront the critical issues of our time – other world faiths, poverty, HIV/AIDS, persecution, among others - as they relate to the future of the Church and world evangelization.
Cape Town 2010 (CT2010) is not just a one-time meeting, but God willing, will be a catalytic event in the life of the church – drawing leaders together in purposeful prayer, humble repentance, strategic dialogue and decisive action. Together we will seek the Lord as we examine the world and our culture to discern where the church should invest its efforts and energies to most effectively respond to Christ’s call to take the gospel into all the world and make disciples of all nations . . . lives changed for all eternity, broken families mended, physical and emotional hurts healed, communities transformed.
