MySATS Frequently Asked Questions

What are the advantages of learning on MySATS?

  1. You have direct access to a dedicated course facilitator who is available to help you throughout the course.
  2. You do not study alone. You are part of a "class" of learners who work together to complete the course. This gives your distance studies an encouraging social dimension.
  3. You will finish courses faster, and thus earn your qualification quicker. Courses have fixed start and end dates, and the structure helps to keep you motivated and interested in your studies.
  4. There are no written examinations. You will be graded largely on the basis of your participation in class activities (e.g., discussions, journals, etc.).

How much do MySATS courses cost?
The cost varies from subject to subject.  A price list is available on the website or in the Prospectus.

Can I participate in more than one MySATS course at a time?
Yes you can.  As long as you can dedicate 8-10 hours a week per subject, you will be able to take more than one course at a time.

Do I have to be a SATS student to take MySATS course?
Yes, you need to be a registered student in order to take part in e-learning courses.

What are the technological requirements for participating in an MySATS course?
The requirements for e-learning are: 

  • A high-speed internet connection (E.G., ADSL or 3G)
  • Internet Explorer 6 or 7 or Firefox.
  • Adobe Acrobat. This is a free download from www.adobe.com

What if I will not have access to a computer for part of the course?
The requirements differ from course to course so please contact the registrar before enrolling for the course.

What is an online course like?
Courses are broken into a number of units and you are given a number of tasks to complete, either on your own or as part of a group, before the end of the unit.  These tasks include participating in class discussions, composing journals and writing group wikis.

What is the assessment mechanism for the MySATS courses?
Marks are awarded for assignments as well as for individual work and group participation.
